so this is new.
and I don't know what to do
in case I fuck up.
what to do,
what to say,
how to react
when you're clearly not okay.
and when you're silent
it's not a comfortable silence,
not yet,
so I can't bring myself
to shut up
and relax
so I stick to plain facts
then I'm boring you.
I just want to get used to adoring you.
cause I do
and I think that it's mutual,
but let's face it you're beautiful,
funny and smart,
everything I'm not
and all that I am
and the more that I know you
the more I can't stand
this distance.
the physical, the emotional,
so I try and bridge the gap
but you push me right back
and it pains me,
but I know you did right
cause this piece of crazy
just keeps on escaping.
it needs some restraining,
it needs to pull back
but you're not complaining about it.
I think I just need to chill out.
it'll work itself out.
so I guess what I'm saying
is I want it to.
I don't want to lose what this is
whatever it is.
I'll reign back just for you,
just 'til it's not so new.

a whole month? wow
yep, it's been a while since I posted here.
I've had some personal stuff going on, that's meant my blogging went elsewhere for a little anonymity for a while and I've neglected this place.
so here's an update.
Girl Gone Bad is nearly finished, though I decided against submitting it to Chroma. it's just taken a direction I don't think they are looking for.
Know Jack is proving to be a real challenge, but I'm completely in love with the characters, so it's very enjoyable to write. I'm so pleased with it's progress so far I may post an extract later on. and I have a sequel in the works too, for now entitled Child Of Mine. it features the same two protagonists, but this time from the POV of DS Hunt (whereas Know Jack is centred around DI Manse).
I've also decided to shelve The Darkening for a while. I've just got too much else to do, and I'm really not making much progress. I'll come back to it though, don't worry.
hope you are all well!

Damn my professionalism
I've recently switched to using artist's pens from technical drawing pens. They are infinitely better for drawing with, and I've found a new love in inking. However, my current method of digital capturing is using the text setting on my camera, and it does not like black ink. It makes them all fuzzy and non-siteworthy. So I'm going to have to scan them like ordinary comic types do, which means going into the cellar. And it is freezing down there. And full of spiders. It's August, I should not be putting on my big woolley jumper and bobble hat and gloves just to scan bleedin comics.
Although it is an excuse to wear my woollen Kangol hat again.
Also, I am applying for an apprenticeship in Government Office which I really desperately want. Please cross everything, just in case it gets me the job.
That is all.

The Waiting Room
"wer r u" she texted. "waiting room" I texted back. My knee twitches involuntarily. The nurse calls a name. Not mine. "wot u doin" she texts. "waiting"

OMG ThorSQUEEEE!!!1one

I've just found these via ComicsAlliance on Twitter.
I want them all, but the Thor one most especially. Genius. If only they'd do something like that with Wildstorm characters. *coughApolloandtheMidnightercough*
I literally cannot wait until February.

Life & Other Euphemisms a-go-go
Finally!
I am very pleased to annouce that my first solo webcomic should (servers willing) go live tomorrow, around midnight GMT.
I'll be updating daily for the next few weeks, then probably twice weekly after that.
If you want to bookmark it now and come back in a week or so, then please do.
The layout will be changed in due course (translation: when I've learned html).
But what's it all about (Alfie)?
It's not a story, there are no characters. It's basically snapshots of the innermost workings of my brain, and my life in metaphors (incidentally a rejected title). I will at some point include an explanation if it's absolutely necessary, but I trust anyone visiting will have enough working brain cells to figure them out.
Thank you all in advance for reading!

If you were to offer me a Scotch and plain water then I would drink a Scotch and plain water.
So I saw Inglorious Basterds last night.
If ever there was a time to throw nacho cheese at the screen, it was during the huge Blackberry ad featuring a prolonged shot of Bono's smug bastard face.
(For those not in the know, cinema nacho cheese contains something that really damages cinema screens)
And there was a trailer for Dorian Gray, which looked kinda cool, until tormented Mr. Gray was seen shagging women. Egged on by Lord Henry. It's been a while since I read it, but I don't remember any women involved in that particular love triangle. (yes, I know it's Sybil, but really) I've read that they've stuck faithfully to the book, but the way they've edited the trailer just seems to ignore the whole 'shagging men too' thing, as if they don't want Daily Mail readers to be offended until they've paid.
Anyway, the film was great. I won't spoil it and I don't feel like reviewing, but there are some amazing lines in it. My favourite being the title of this post. I've been saying it all day when being offered a cuppa. I think I'm annoying people.
Still, go see it. It's hilarious, violent, creepy and has lots of BSU. And a multitude of European languages. I even managed to follow some of the French, go me. Look out for the awesome Eli Roth (he's the guy that looks a bit like Sylar) in a rare but superb acting role.
It was so good I'd consider paying to see it.
